1 Corinthians 12 3b – 13v 11 “It is the one and only Spirit who distributes these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.”
No one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Hoy Spirit. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who works in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. “It is the one and only Spirit who distributes these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.” The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.

This week I was at a track and field meet for the London District Catholic School Board elementary schools. Hundreds of children, youth, teachers, support workers, volunteers, administrators, from many different backgrounds and cultures. All meeting with one goal to do their best. All participants were provided with a ribbon depending on the level they had reached in their event. In the adapted race, for those with multiple disabilities everyone was running to better the time they had started with as they began to train for the event. I was even given a ribbon as a volunteer. Many parts worked to make the day happen, the skills we were given by God used for the benefit of all. What a great picture of the Holy Spirit at work. We as volunteers had to listen to instructions, we practiced our roles repeatedly, helped each other with encouraging words especially from those who had been to the meet before, shared the shade when the day got hotter and hotter and the joy of cheering on those who were running the races. The gifts we brought came form one God and required many different parts. The parts we played were chosen for us. We all contributed to the event and shared the joy of working as one.
Prayer: Holy God, we thank you for the Spiritual gifts we have been given. Help us to use them so that we can help each other to do and be our best. Amen.
