Trust, stand firm.

Psalm 33;1-12 v 4 “For the word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything He does.”

Let the godly sing for joy to the Lord, praise Him, make music, sing a new song, with joy. For the word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything He does. God loves whatever is just and good, the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born. Let everyone stand in awe of Him. The Lords plans stand firm forever, His intentions can never be shaken. What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord.

I have been attending a few different United Churches over the past few months as a friend was preaching at them. She also chose the hymns that went with her message and the other sung parts of the service but has been frustrated as she has heard things like” we don’t sing new hymns”,” we have never done it like that before, it is not how we do it.” The churches are mostly empty, the people are mostly over sixty years old, and the “good works” help the needy at a distance and are self-motivated- cleaning out our own closets to give to others, providing social entertainment to pay for the building upkeep. When did you last trust the Lord, who made the heavens? Made plans based on the firm foundation that cannot be shaken? And found the joy that comes as a result!

God loves what is just and good. His unfailing love fills the earth, and He wants you to be a part of it. Whether you look closely around you or to the far corners of the world stand firm for justice and show others God’s love.

Prayer: Almighty God who made the heavens and the earth thank you for also sharing your love and joy. Teach us through your Holy Spirit to reach out to the world trusting you to be with us and your Son Jesus to stand firmly beside us. Amen.
