Genesis 18: 1-15 v 12 “So she laughed silently to herself and said” how could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master -my husband- is also so old?”
The Lord appeared again to Abraham who was sitting at the entrance to his tent and saw three men approach. “My Lord” Abraham said “If it pleases you, stop here for a while, let me prepare some food to refresh you before you continue on your journey.” Alright they said. And Abraham provided them with bread, roasted meat, yogurt and milk. “Where is Sarah, your wife? “the visitors asked. Then one of them said, “I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife Sarah, will have a son!” Sarah was listening from the tent. “So she laughed silently to herself and said” how could a worn-out women like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master -my husband- is also so old?” Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh?”

When was the last time you chuckled to yourself at an impossible statement? It probably occurred as in this picture around the table as you were eating with friends or family. My daughter told us of an interaction with her two plus year-old son over dinner last week.” Mommy “he said, say “school bus” so she dutifully replied “School Bus” “Good job” replied her son repeating what has been said to him on many occasions by his teacher Mom!! I smiled quietly to myself.
In Sarah’s place I too would have laughed. Ever practical this man was talking the impossible. But God makes the impossible easy. When have you thought something was impossible and it came to be? From buying a house, to going on a special vacation, or getting into university, or having your own family after trying for years. Big or small with God anything is possible.
Prayer: Almighty God, thank you for putting the impossible in our hearts and seeing it happen with your mighty power. Help us to live today with the knowledge that with you close by anything is possible. Amen
