Romans 6: 12-23 v 16 “Don’t you realize that you become the slave of everything that you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.”
Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead give yourself completely to God. So, use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Live under the freedom of God’s grace. Can you go on sinning? Don’t you realize that you become the slave of everything that you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.” The imagery of slavery is to help you understand. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Summer is here a chance to have a vacation from the normal everyday routines of getting up and going to work. To see different places other than your own home. To share time with friends and family that live further away from you. So where do you choose to go? Who and what do you choose to see? Are you a slave to having adult fun at the expense of time with your family? Do you continue to be so busy with your family that you forget to enjoy them? Spend more time buying and packing things and organizing than having a conversation with those you are visiting? Watching the GPS or other screens rather than looking out the window to enjoy the journey?

Use you whole body to do what is right for the glory of God! Think of being free rather than a slave during your vacation and maybe bring that feeling back with you for the rest of the year. A free gift through Christ Jesus.
Prayer: Heavenly Father who gave us this wonderful world to explore, help us to enjoy our vacations with the freedom of doing what is right in your sight. Thank you for the example of your son Jesus Christ who encouraged us to love you and our neighbor. For giving us all the freedom of choice to live each day as slaves to our spiritual nature of love, peace, kindness, gentleness, and self-control. Amen.
