A cup of water

Matthew 10: 40-42 v 42 “And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.”

Jesus is sending out the twelve apostles. He tells them that anyone who receives you receives me, and anyone who receives me receives the Father who sent me. You will be given a reward like the prophets and righteous people. And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.”

I know I am anxious when I try and talk to others about my faith, especially family. The fear of not being accepted is greater than the rewards of guiding others to a belief in God and His son Jesus Christ. But is it? Here we clearly see that the rewards of receiving anyone who is deeply religious, as a prophet, or does many good deeds, as a righteous person or if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.”

“And if you receive righteous people because of their righteousness, you will be given a reward like theirs.”

So today if someone asks you to donate to a good cause whilst you are shopping say enthusiastically yes! You surely will be rewarded!

Prayer: Loving Father God, show us the needs of your people around us today and encourage us to be generous towards others especially other believers. Amen.
