Genesis 28:10-19av 12 “As he slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth up to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down the stairway.”
Jacob was travelling and found a good place to camp. He went to sleep and had a dream. “As he slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth up to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down the stairway.” At the top of the stairway stood the Lord. He said “The ground you are lying on belongs to you. “And all the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants. What’s more I am with you and will protect you wherever you go. “Jacob woke up and said “surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t aware of it! He was afraid, surely this is the very gateway to heaven.”
These iconic words have been part of songs- Stairway to heaven by Led Zeppelin, movies have shown us examples as in Grease. Images in our dreams can sometimes distort the truth, exaggerate things we are thinking about, and confuse real life happenings with imagined. But this is Gods word. The truth. Today I see a connection between heaven and earth. I see support for us from angels. And a God who protects us and is with us wherever we might go.
Feel God in your day today in the warmth of the sun. See the wonder of a caring God as you experience different places on vacation. And know that he is always with you as a friend offers support, an angel a helping hand, or a family member a hug.
Prayer: Holy God who opens our eyes to your presence wherever we go, thank you for the love we see in your Son Jesus, and the connection with heaven in the Holy Spirit. Amen.
