Psalm 139, 1-12, 23-24v 3 “You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.”
O Lord, you have examined me. When I sit down or when I stand up. “You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.” You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. Search me and know my heart, point out anything that offends you. Lead me along the path of everlasting life.

At this time of year for some lists are being made of travel destinations, flight times and arrangements are being made to be picked up and dropped off at airports, train stations or Bus terminals. Some will pack up a car, or trailer including bikes or boats to travel by land, sea or sky. Along with those plans are the anxious thoughts about will the plane be delayed, will there be someone to pick me up when I arrive. This psalm reminds us that whether I rest at home or travel God see’s us, support’s us, and leads us along the right path. How does that make you feel? Can you rest in Him and decrease your anxiety about travelling? I read in a devotional once that instead of being upset about having to wait in line use the time to pray! Try a breath prayer instead of a rant about being late (see here for examples) connecting with God in all you do gives you the peace that passes all understanding.
Prayer: Heavenly Father as we travel during this summer season remind us that you are always there to support and lead us along the right path. Amen.
