Romans 8: 12-25 v 23 We believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering.
If through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. Now we call Him “Abba, Father. “His Spirit joins with our Spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. If we share His glory, we also share His suffering. With eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. We believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. (If we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.)

Jesus, the child of God, was killed on this earth at the age of 33-40. For us today living in the western world, not even half of our expected years and similarly as in psalm 90 v 10 life expectancy could be 70 to 80 years. We can call our God Abba, Father, and share the glory of Jesus but also the suffering. We are looking forward to the time when we have a new body as Jesus did after the resurrection, but we do not have it yet. We must wait patiently and confidently and live as children of God our best life possible for Him.
Prayer: Abba, Father we thank you for choosing those who believe in Jesus to be your children. Help us to live each day guided by the Holy Spirit within us rather than the world around us. Amen
