Romans 9:1-5 v 2-3 “My heart is filled with bitter sorrow and unending grief for my people, my Jewish brother and sisters.”
Christ as a witness. Confirmed by my conscience and the Holy Spirit, my sorrow and grief for my people is great. God revealed His glory to them. He gave them the privilege of worshipping Him and receiving His wonderful promises. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are their ancestors, and Christ himself was an Israelite as far as His human nature is concerned.β He is God the one who rules over everything and is worthy of eternal praise.
My Dad always said there are two things in life guaranteed, death and taxes! With the loss of both of my parents and my husbands in the past few years the connection between death and money has been outlined as we manage the distribution of their estates. Both left money for each family but we would all like a few more days with each parent rather than the money. But that is not how the rules of life work. For Paul concerning the Jewish people, he had difficulty with the rules, that even Jesus came from amongst them. They had the privilege of worshiping and praising God before Christ was born. Paul would gladly wish for them to be saved rather than himself.

When we grieve for others and wish for things to be different, we must remember that God rules over everything and is worthy of eternal praise. Amen.
Prayer: Holy God, ruler of the earth thankyou for sending your Son to comfort us in our times of grief, worthy of worship and our eternal praise. Amen.
