Matthew 14: 13-21 v 14 “Jesus saw the huge crowds as he stepped from the boat, and He had compassion on them and healed their sick.”
Jesus had just been told that his cousin had been killed. As soon as he heard the news he left for a remote area, by boat, to be alone. Many followed him on foot to where he was going. “Jesus saw the huge crowds as he stepped from the boat, and He had compassion on them and healed their sick.” The disciples wanted Jesus to send the people away for food and shelter. However, Jesus fed them, all the men, women and children, with His Fathers blessing and two fish and five loaves of bread. There were even twelve baskets of food leftover.

Personal grief initially is hard to absorb. A typical human response is to want to be alone before responding to the needs of others. Jesus first responds to His grief based on His own needs but then the compassion He had for others is seen, both human responses. Later we see the God actions. Providing food for over 5,000 men, women, and children from a small amount of food. Even to the point of having 12 baskets of leftovers.
When we do things in Jesus’s name, despite the limitations of our human response we need to keep going in case God is looking for His chance to respond. The larger than we can imagine response to what is planned.
Prayer: Heavenly Father we thank you for your support in times of our need and the amazing response when you see the need. Amen.
