Our Hearts

Romans 10: 5-15 v 10 “It is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. “

Moses, who was given the 10 commandments by God told the people that to be right with God they had to be obedient to His commands. The people then tried to decide who would be saved based on how they followed the commandments. In fact, the Old Testament actually says” The message is close at hand, on your lips and in your heart. To openly declare that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead is the way to be saved. It is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. “To call on Him you need to believe in Him. How can you believe if you don’t know about him? How can you hear about Him unless someone tells you. How can anyone tell you without being sent? How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”

“The message is very close at hand it is on your lips and in your hearts.” Romans 10 v 8

This week we have seen how great our Fathers love for us is and how he talks in a small voice to us ( see the blog for Sunday and Tuesday)  and we need to listen. Today we add to the Old Testament teachings the roll of Jesus the Son of God. We hear that it is in our hearts, a deep connection, both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament. As well as being obedient we must believe in Jesus and the resurrection to be saved. Then we need to tell others about our faith and teach them the Good News.

Some have the talent to tell a story, to stand up and preach about the word. Others have the talent to help others and as they live the good news those around them ask questions about why and that is the opportunity to talk about your faith. The sharing of that deep joy within your heart.

Prayer: Holy God, who loves us all dearly , speaks to us softly, fill our hearts with love for those around us so that we can lead them to you. Amen.
