God is Good

Genesis 45: 1-15 v 5 Don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives.

Joseph sent many people not his brothers out of the room. He wanted to say what he had to say to his brother alone. He was so overcome with emotion about revealing who he was to his brothers that he cried so loud that those outside the room could hear. The brothers were speechless. Joseph said, don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives. He explained that the famine would continue, and they would have to move to Egypt or perish. He told his brother to return and say to his father “God sent me here and has put me in charge. Weeping with joy Joeseph embrace Benjamin and Benjamin did the same. Then Joseph kissed all his brothers, and they began to talk freely with each other.

“Weeping with joy , he embraced Benjamin, and Benjamin did the same.” Genesis 45 v 14

When my mom passed away, I was back home after the funeral and watching TV with my husband and suddenly I was crying loudly. He reached over to me and asked what was wrong and I said I really missed my mom.  We then talked a bit about her, and I felt better. Have you ever been overwhelmed with emotion that you cried loudly too? Joeseph realized that first God had a hand in his being in Egypt. He told his brothers therefore to focus on the good that had come out of his trials and that wasting time being upset or angry was not good.  If we pray about things and our journey is still a rocky one but eventually good happens, we can look back and see the hand of God supporting us. We must embrace where we are and continue on leaving the upset and anger behind.

Prayer: Heavenly Father whether at the beginning, middle or end of our trials help us to remember that you are with us and to look for the good, the support of family and praise you always. Amen.
