God’s People

Romans 11: 1-2a, 29-32 v 29 “For God’s gifts and His call can never be withdrawn.”

Has God rejected His own people, the nation of Israel (Jews)? For God’s gifts and His call can never be withdrawn.” For God has imprisoned everyone in disobedience so He could have mercy on everyone.

If you add this reading to Ephesians 2 v 14, 17-18, a few pages over “ For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when in His own body on the cross, He broke down the wall of hostility that separated us. He brought this good news of peace to you gentiles who were far away from Him and peace to the Jews who were near. Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.

“For God has imprisoned everyone in disobedience so He could have mercy on everyone.” Romans 11 v 32

I feel lucky like the Jews to have been brought up at a time and a place that was near to God. My parents always took me to church so even once a week I heard the stories of my faith. As a youth I focused more on the New Testament and the resurrected Christ and thought the Old Testament was something that we grew from and was not too important. I now see the bible, each part as important as another. In the Jewish rebellions against the Law, I see the constant struggle between the world and between God. I can now understand that we are all imprisoned in disobedience. The faith that formed in my teenage years has been a part of me, for God’s gifts and His call can never be withdrawn.” We are all God’s people, at His mercy to be saved.

Prayers: Heavenly Father help us to grow in our faith as we talk to those around us knowing that we are all yours. Amen.
