Exodus 1: 8-2:10 v “The women became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She saw that he was a special baby and kept him hidden for three months.”
Living in Egypt the Hebrews were multiplying, and Pharaoh demanded that all boy babies be thrown in the Nile River. The story then begins of a Hebrew couple who got married. The women became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She saw that he was a special baby and kept him hidden for three months.” She then sent her daughter to watch over the baby as he had been put in a basket on the river. Pharaoh’s daughter came down to the river and saw the basket, lifted the lid, and found the crying baby. The sister then came forward and asked if Pharaoh’s daughter would like her to find a woman to nurse the baby. She said yes and her mother was given the task. Later when the boy was older his mother brought him back to Pharaoh’s daughter who adopted him and called him Moses.

Life as a mother is hard. Our babies might not have been born with the fear of them dying or of ourselves for that matter but still we make decisions every day that affect our growing children. But in some countries of the world life is still hard for mothers who die in childbirth, for children who have a poor chance of living beyond five years of age. For countries like China who only abolished the one child rule in 2016. Fines for having more than the two or three children allowed were also abolished in 2021 but the many single males and the lost girls still remain part of todays China. In this bible story there is hope that God will find a way to protect our children as to a mother all children are special. As God’s children He gives us special gifts to use for the good He wants to do in the world.
Hug your children today or send them a message of encouragement that they are loved. As mothers we protect and love our children and with God, great things are possible.
Prayer: Heavenly Father who looks on all of us as His children thank you for loving us and giving us gifts to be able to do your work. Amen.
