Wake Up!

 Romans 13: 8-14 v10 “Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfils the requirements of God’s law.”  

Owe nothing except your obligation to love one another. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet. “Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfils the requirements of God’s law.”  Time is running out. Wake up! Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness. Instead clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Retirement is freedom to do what you want with your time and your money and talents. However, the energy to keep going is limited. Wake up is a familiar phrase, as I watch TV at night before going to bed! Time is running out, but my to do list is becoming shorter, as I have travelled, had children, enjoyed a career. How do I spend my days? Here we see the answer, the call to love God first, live a decent life in the light of day aware of the presence of Jesus Christ.

Have I got it all figured out? No. I am currently eating less and exercising more as I put on weight over the summer, which has made my clothes uncomfortable and my energy levels even lower. Indulging in the abundance of food available did not lead to a good life. Take time out today and choose love of God and your neighbor to decide on your priorities. Time is running out. Wake up!

Prayer: Loving God thank you for the example of your Son Jesus Christ who showed us our neighbors are the lost, the lonely, the widow, the hungry and the poor. Wake us up to show others that we love them in your name. Amen.
