What happened ?

Psalm 114 v 3 “The red sea saw them coming and hurried out of their way! The water of the Jordan river turned away.”      

When the Israelites escaped from Egypt- when the family of Jacob left that foreign land- the land of Judah became God’s sanctuary, and Israel became His kingdom.” The red sea saw them coming and hurried out of their way! The water of the Jordan river turned away.”  What’s wrong? What happened? Why? Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord. Yes, a spring of water flowed from solid rock.

There is tremendous historical significance for many religions surrounding the Jordan river. For Jews, for those of the Islamic faith and for Christians. The journey from the Old Testament to the New Testament is joined by this river as Jesus was baptized in it. It still today is a significant landmark that marks the border between Israel and Jorden. These things happened and are significant, but the psalmist still asks the questions what’s wrong? What happened? Why? These acts and all we do in life is still significant today. Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord. Things hard to imagine happened , the laws of the earth were transformed, water came from rock. Almighty is our God.

Prayer: Heavenly Father who is Lord of all the earth thank you for reminding us through our history that you are always with us and can make amazing things beyond our imaginations happen. Amen.
