Standing by you!

Exodus 17: 1-7 v 6“I will stand before you on the rock at Mount Sinai. Strike the rock and water will come gushing out. Then the people will be able to drink.”

At the Lord’s command the whole people of Israel moved from place to place. They ended at Rephidim where there was no water. The people began to complain to Moses. Moses was afraid they were ready to stone him, so he cried out to the Lord. The Lord replied stand up in front of the people with your staff. Call some of the elders. I will stand before you on the rock at Mount Sinai. Strike the rock and water will come gushing out. Then the people will be able to drink.” Moses did as he was told, and the water came out of the rock.

Right now, on my personal journey with God I am going from place to place and am beginning to get thirsty. I am looking around to see where God wants me to work but can’t find a place to rest. Even my good friends are probably getting tired of me asking: what should we be doing? We need to plan something new!  And then I read this passage which made me feel like the complaining Israelites. I am forgetting that it is God who leads us from place to place. That He always has a plan and like Moses if we do as He tells us He will stand by us, and great things will happen for His glory.

Prayer: Heavenly Father give me the patience to wait for you to put me in the right place and then show me what I must do. Remind us all that you will stand by us as we do your work. Amen.
