Evil Farmers

Matthew 21:33-46 v 43 “I tell you the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit.”

Jesus is teaching and starts this passage with “Now listen to another story” he tells the story of a farmer who leases his land to people who when the crop is harvested kills and stones those he sends to collect his share of the harvest. When he finally sends his son, they murder him to get the land for themselves. Jesus then asks the simple question “What do you think he will do to those farmers? The religious leaders replied, “He will put the wicked men to a horrible death and lease the vineyard to people who will give him his share of the crop after each harvest.” Jesus goes on to talk about the scriptures that say “The stone the builders rejected has now become the corner stone. Anyone who stumbles over that stone will be broken to pieces, and it will crush anyone it falls on.” The priest wanted to arrest Jesus, but they were afraid of the crowds who considered Him to be a prophet.

“The stone that the builders rejected has now become the corner stone.” Matthew 21 v 42b

It is a huge responsibility to talk about the teachings in the bible and I know that for me I do not do it alone. The Holy Spirit opens my eyes to things that I have never seen before when reading words from the bible I have read many times, and some words I feel like I have never read before. I spent COVD reading the bible from cover to cover so I know I have read them at least once. This reading cautions us all that God gives us a choice to follow Him, but God sees how we do things and will call us out. If we stumble over Jesus, we will be broken to pieces. We need good people around us to help with the farming of people and when God sends us messengers we need to listen and give God the glory. If a football player can raise his eyes to heaven, then I should be able to state where my strength and power comes from. From a loving God, a guiding Christ and a living Holy Spirt.

Prayer: Heavenly Father thank you for giving us the tools we need to work for you and the heart to continue until the harvest is in. Amen.
