Psalm 106: 1-6, 19-23 v 0 “They traded their glorious God, for a statue of a grass eating bull.”
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! Who can praise Him enough? There is joy for those who deal justly with others. Like our ancestors we have sinned. They traded their glorious God, for a statue of a grass eating bull.” So, He declared He would destroy them. But Moses, his chosen one, begged Him to turn from His anger.”
The psalm today repeats the message of the reading from Sunday highlighting our joy if we follow God and our destruction if we do not. Worth repeating! In my experiences of God today I find it is the small things that make me believe, opening the bible today at the verse I am looking for, a warm sunny day for a planned outing, a feeling of joy and peace after a hard conversation. I sometimes wish our Great God who I also understand to have huge powers would use them for dramatic effect and make our life of turning others to Him an easier job. Send manna from heaven to feed the hungry in Africa, stop the war in Ukraine and Egypt, encourage the Government of Canada to make good on their promises to send aid to feed the hungry in other parts of the world. But the repeating of the story in the psalm today gave me a new insight. The Jewish people were given great miracles and kept turning from God. Jesus is our experience of God, a lowly man who came to save us one person at a time through a loving relationship and that is how He wants us to continue His ministry. One person, one relationship at a time. Deal with the small stuff and God will see that the big things happen in His time and according to His will. Praise Him, give thanks and show others the joy that that gives you. A message worth repeating.

Prayer: Holy God who lovingly sent us your son help us to be more like Him every day. Thank you for the small miracles that we see every day and giving us the courage to continue to praise your name. Amen.
