Following Gods commands

Joshua 3:7-17 v  17 “Meanwhile, the priests who were carrying the Ark of the Lord stood on dry ground in the middle of the riverbed as the people passed by.’

The Lord said to Joshua, today I will begin to make you a great leader. They will know that I am with you just as I was with Moses. Joshuah told the Israelites, “Come and listen to what your Lord God says.” Look the Ark of the Lords covenant will lead you across the Jordan river. A river at its height swollen with the harvest rains. The river backed up and the remaining drained down into the dead sea so that a dry path was created. Meanwhile, the priests who were carrying the Ark of the Lord stood on dry ground in the middle of the riverbed as the people passed by.’

God tried in the Old Testament to use big signs and wonders to lead people to Him and keep them safe. However human nature seemed to get in the way of trusting God for all things. What an amazing site it must have been to see the river part and dry land appear for the Israelites to walk across the Jordan river. Joshua’s life changed too as he was revered as much as Moses from that moment on.

“They waited there until the whole nation of Israel had crossed the Jordan on dry ground.” Joshua 3 v 17b

For us today God has a more intimate approach as He sent Jesus to show us how to live and transform our lives as we follow God’s commands. Not with big gestures but with quiet moments, loving attitudes, and gives us a deep joy inside. God can still slay any Goliath that comes our way if we follow His commands and trust Him.

Prayer: Father in Heaven help us to follow your commands every day to love you and our neighbor. Thank you for your Son who guides us in our daily lives and helps us to shine with your love of the world. Amen.
