I Thessalonians 2: 9-13v Paul is talking in his letter to the Thessalonians about his visit to them. What he did when he was there was to work hard at a job day and night so that he could cover the expenses of his visit. “We treated each of you as a father treats his own children. We are thankful that you accepted what we said as the very words of God. – which of course it is. And this word continues to work in you who believe.”
For me this highlights the words of others, faithful friends, and Ministers who over the years have given comfort, good advice “who encouraged me, and urged me to live my life in a way that God would consider worthy.” Did I realize that God was speaking to me? I am sorry to say not for many years, but I hope that I am more in tune with those conversations today. The ones that make you feel heard, and therefore encouraged to do better. The word of God!

Prayer: Heavenly Father who knows us by name thank you for the wonderful people who have spoken your word to us. Open our hearts to continue to hear your word today and forever. Amen.
