Pray to the Lord

Psalm 78:1-7 v 2 “Listen to my prayer for mercy as I cry out to you for help, as I lift up my hands towards your holy sanctuary.”

I pray to you, O Lord my rock. Listen to my prayer for mercy as I cry out to you for help, as I lift up my hands towards your holy sanctuary.” Do not drag me away with the wicked, who seem friendly but plan evil. Give them a taste of what they have done for others. Praise the Lord! My strength, my shield. I burst out in song with thanksgiving.

I used this song a few weeks back as part of the CrossWalk Wednesday Worship. I did not realize at the time it came directly from scripture, but God did. He listens to my prayers about giving me daily direction. I lifted my hands up to Him. The psalmist believed at the time that asking God to deal with the wicked, “To pay them back for all their evil deeds. Give them a taste of what they have done to others, was OK. I know I have certainly thought that too. Give so and so a taste of their own medicine! But as always, a better attitude comes through. Praise the Lord! He fills my heart with joy. Burst out in songs of thanksgiving. Pray to the Lord and good things will happen.

“Praise the Lord! ” Psalm 28 v 6a

Prayer: Holy God thank you for the joy we find in following you. Help us to look for the good in all we do and as we pray and lift our hands to you. Amen
