Matthew 25: 1-13 v 10 “But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked.”
A story about ten bridesmaids, representing the Kingdom of heaven. Five were foolish and five were wise. The five who were foolish did not take enough oil for their lamps. The five who were wise took along extra oil. The bridegroom was delayed. They all fell asleep. At midnight they woke because of a shout “Look the bridegroom is coming.” The foolish did not have enough oil to keep their lamps burning, so they went to buy more. But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked.” They called from outside “Lord, Lord, open the door” But he called back “I do not know you.” So, you must keep watch, for you do not know when I will return.
Each of the readings I use during the week come from the lectionary and are meant to be used in a Sunday service dated for the week I write the blogs. I have begun to look back at the headings which I write independently but they give you the theme for the week. This week is “Serve Him wholeheartedly, Pray, be ready to meet the Lord and keep watch! God guides me each week to present simply and to the best of my knowledge the meanings behind the readings. I try and learn new things using google search, listening to other devotionals, and through Godly friends. Then the Holy Spirit guides each one of you, as it does me, to listen and helps you to understand the special meaning for you.

Today is a reminder that we need to make plans, but wisely, looking at the big picture of why we are here, to serve God wholeheartedly. To pray and be ready to meet the Lord. So keep watch over your heart to be wise and bring extra along, extra forgiveness, extra love, extra hope, extra peace and extra joy to all you do today.
Prayer: Heavenly Father who loves all who turn to Him keep us wise in the ways that help us to keep our lamps burning as we keep watch for your return. Amen.
