Celebrate together!

Matthew 25: 14 – 30 v23 “The master said”. “Well done my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!”

The Kingdom of heaven can be explained by this story of a man who went on a long trip. He called his servants and gave each a bag of money to keep for him, each as much as he had observed they could manage. One had five bags, one two and one, one. Then he went away. The servant with the five bags invested the money and made five more. The person with two bags went to work and made more to have four bags. The last servant with one bag buried it in the ground. After the trip the master returned and called the servants to him. When the servants who had been given five and two bags of silver presented double the amount, the master said”. “Well done my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!” To the servant who had buried the money he said “You wicked and lazy servant! “Take the money from him. What little he had will be taken away, “Now throw this servant into outer darkness.”

“After a long time their master returned from his trip and called them to give an account of how they had used the money.” Matthew 25 v 19

We all have things that we can do more easily than other things. I like to cook and bake. During COVID I started making bread and really enjoy kneading the dough and now my family ask me to make pretzels buns as they really enjoy them. Sharing a skill that you have with others gives back. In todays reading we see that God wants you to use your talents to make more, double in fact what we have! Then he will call you “a good and faithful servant” and celebrate with you! He knows what you are good at and will give you what you can manage to make more for Him. It might be words to encourage others, endurance to walk with those who need a helping hand, ideas to share the good news with others. Invest in your talents today and work to increase them like good and faithful servants. God will then celebrate with you!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the riches that you give us. Help us to use them for increasing your Kingdom here on earth, to not be afraid to reach out to others as we try daily to be good and faithful servants. Be with us over the coming weeks as we celebrate with you, the birth of Jesus Amen.
