Ephesians 1 : 15-23 v 22 “God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church.’
I heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, your love for God’s people everywhere. I have not stopped giving thanks and praying for you! For spiritual wisdom and growth in your knowledge of God. I pray that you are flooded in light, confident in hope, understand the greatness of God’s power. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church.’
The start of a good thing is a strong faith, and a love for others. Then we need prayer for spiritual wisdom, confidence that Jesus walks beside us, and allow the power of God to do great things. Making sure that Jesus gets the credit! For the benefit of the church.
It all sounds so simple. Yet as we witness time and time again in the Old Testament the people most loved by God get it wrong time and time again and God gets angry. In the world today we see the same thing people in charge of the church getting things wrong time and time again. All mainstream churches in the Western world are hurting, closing their doors rather than opening to the changes that are required to put Christ back at the head, allowing prayer and the power of God to make the changes necessary. To walk humbly with each other as we continue to walk on the dusty road to Emmaus learning from Christ, our authority.

Prayer: Heavenly Father as we anticipate the coming of Christ as a baby, re affirm our faith that His authority is what we need. To be as vulnerable as a newborn, who requires all care and nourishment from someone else. May we be vulnerable to your power to shine light into the world in Jesus’s name. Amen.
