Luke 1:26–38 v 38 “Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything that you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.
God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth. Don’t be afraid. You have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. What’s more your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! For the word of God will never fail. Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything that you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.
Why would the readings for this week, end with the beginning of the story of Jesus’s birth? Going back to look at the future? God didn’t just send any angel, not even a host but THE angel, Gabriel. Reminding us today of the importance of the message, that Mary will have a son named Jesus. The Son of the Most high. What’s more a 60 year old women will have a child, although possible now with modern medical techniques 2,000 years later, a miracle at the time, but a sign of things to come? The word of God is as true for us now as it was then. Mary agreed to follow God’s path for her. Again, true for us. Going back in time to the wise words of the bible helps us to live our best life today. Back to the future!

Prayer: Almighty God who sees the best for us in this life if we follow you. Help us to journey with Jesus daily. Amen.
