Meeting Jesus

Luke 2:22–40 v 15 “As a result, the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your very soul. “

V 38b “she talked about the child to everyone who had been waiting expectantly for God to rescue Jerusalem.”

As require by the law of Mases his parents took him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord. At that time there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon. The Holy Spirit was upon him. That day the Spirit led him to the temple. He took the child in his arms and praised God. Blessed the parents and said to Mary “As a result, the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your very soul. “

Anna a prophet was also at the temple, she started praising God, and then she talked about the child to everyone who had been waiting expectantly for God to rescue Jerusalem.”

Often throughout my spiritual journey there have been stories from the bible that reflect people’s reaction to meeting Jesus and the question is asked what would you have done if you had met Jesus? For these two special people the reaction was first to praise God. Then because of who they were they were given insight into His path in life. For Mary there was sadness, for those waiting for the Messiah, hope, for all the deepest thoughts of our hearts will be revealed.

As the new year continues, it is a time to readjust our priorities, set new goals, and think deep thoughts. Will you meet Jesus? Praise Him? And tell others about it?

Prayer: Heavenly Father who showed His love of the world by sending His son so that we can choose to follow His ways we thank you! We praise you! Amen.
