I Corinthians 7: 29-31 v 31b “For this world as we know it will soon pass away.”
Dear brothers and sister, the time that remains is very short. So, from now on, those with wives should not focus only on their marriage. Those that weep or rejoice or buy things should not be absorbed by weeping, joy, or possessions. Those who use things of this world should not be attached to them. For the world as we know it will soon pass away.
Yes time on this earth is short. In reading this week I learn’t of a great feminist, hook, who died when she was 69. I friend went to a funeral of a man who was 68. When you are in your 66th year it makes you think. Time for me could be short!! What if I only have two or three years left on this earth? And then there is that song https://youtu.be/_9TShlMkQnc?si=tdurK3Mw5yleqImB . What would you do?
As always, the bible gives you some ideas too. The ideas that stood out for me in this passage were to not focus so much on the immediate concerns of our everyday lives, like marriage, grief, shopping, only doing things that bring you joy. For this world as we know it will soon pass away.

Prayer: Heavenly Father who shows us His love in all we do, help us to focus on you and to rejoice in the difficult times, reach out to others in need, go beyond our comfort zone in the time we have left, whatever that may be. Amen.
