True and False

Deuteronomy 18:15-20v 18 “I (God) will raise up a prophet like you (Moses) from among their fellow Israelites. I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell the people everything I command him.”

Ture or false prophets. Moses said, “the Lord your God will raise up a prophet like me. You must listen to him. For this is what you asked of God. “Don’t let us hear the voice of the Lord our God anymore or see this blazing fire, for we will die.” I (God) will raise up a prophet like you (Moses) from among their fellow Israelites. I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell the people everything I command him.” I (God) will personally deal with anyone who won’t listen to him. And false prophets who claim to speak in my name or speak of other gods must die.”

I never like the true of false questions in an exam as the reading of the question is so important. I often must go back to make sure I did not miss something in the first reading. Add to that all the new ways to find out facts about things or opinions today the sifting through to find the truth is even more difficult. We seem to have to be more on guard against false statements. There have been people saying they have cancer to raise money instead of working, emails and telephone calls saying that a friend is in need, or the government wants more of your tax money. I even heard of people being sent a taxi to take them to the bank to get out money to help a fictitious friend. False statements taking us away from the fruits of the Spirit, to worry, fear, and anger.

God in His wisdom worried about our connection to him sent us the ultimate prophet, Jesus. For us now, with the birth and death of Jesus we have a different relationship with God, a direct way to connect with the divine to stay the course of truth however unattainable that may be. There are many who we can learn from to deepen our faith and we can check that what they say is biblically based, that other Christians agree, and that the Holy Spirit tells our hearts when we pray that it is true.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, who is the ultimate truth, guide us today and every day to a place where the fruits of the spirit abound. Amen.

Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
