Mark1: 9-15 v 15 The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News.”
John baptized Jesus in the Jordan river. The heavens split apart, and the Holy Spirit came down as a dove. The spirit compelled Jesus into the wilderness where He was tempted by the devil, lived with wild animals but angels looked after him. Later after John was arrested, He preached the Good News. The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News.”

I am a problem solver, a fixer, a practical person who can see differences and similarities and get things done. I have difficulty imagining a world of doves coming down from heaven and angels looking after Jesus, and I am still most scared when talking to others outside my known Christian friends about Jesus. However, the older I get the bigger God gets. His almighty power is around us and I am getting better at talking to people in general and I know that God will give me the opportunity to speak about Him to others just as we read today “The time promised by God has come at last!” I haven’t seen a miraculous sign like a dove coming down on someone’s head, but I do see God more each day. In the words of friends or strangers giving me encouragement for what I am doing, In the sunshine when I feel sad, in the dry roads when I must travel. And then the last verse, repent. Admit that sometimes you avoid speaking to someone in the grocery store, take time to reply to a friend’s email because you are down the rabbit hole of the internet, and get overwhelmed when you asked God to assign you work to do for Him and then can’t seem to fit it all in. Take time today to say sorry to God. Repent.
Prayer: Heavenly Father who loves us despite our weaknesses we are sorry for …………………………….. Thank you for loving us in all we do. Amen.
