Guilt

Psalm 51 1-12 v “Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin.”

Have mercy on me O God. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. I recognize my rebellion; against you I have sinned. Your judgement against me is just. But you desire honesty from the womb (or from the heart, Hebrew reads “in the inward parts”). Give me back my joy again, let me rejoice. Create in me a clean heart, do not banish me from your presence. Restore joy and make me willing to obey.

Choices, choices, choices. How come the choices we often make leave us feeling guilty? How many times this week have you said sorry for things you haven’t or have done that affected others? I can certainly relate to the writer of this psalm. Wash me clean of my guilt, purify me from my sin.  Judgement against me is just! Prayer: Heavenly Father each day I try and be the best I can be for you. Forgive me when I go astray. Thank you for restoring the joy in me and helping me share it wherever I am. Amen.
