Mark 11: 1-11 v 11 “So Jesus came to Jerusalem and went into the temple. After looking around carefully at everything, he left because it was late in the afternoon.”
Jesus arrived at Bethany near Jerusalem with His friends. He told two of them to go ahead and find a colt and to bring it back to Him. If anyone asks, “what are you doing” say “The Lord needs it and will return it soon.” So off they went, and they found the colt and as they were untying it someone asked, “what are you doing.” As they repeated Jesus’s words they were allowed to take the colt. They laid coats on the back of the colt then walked with Jesus along the road and others put their coats down on the ground and leaves from the fields. It became a happy procession of people calling out “Praise God!” So, Jesus came to Jerusalem and went into the temple. After looking around carefully at everything, he left because it was late in the afternoon.”
Jesus knew that for the human part of Him these were His last days on earth. We all know that one day our time on this earth will end too. Some it will be suddenly the end for others like Jesus they will have time to contemplate the world for the last time. And that is what I am seeing from this passage today. Not the worldly wonder of the praise and triumphant arrival in Jerusalem but the quiet contemplation as Jesus looks around the temple a place he enjoyed being in even as a boy. His Father’s house on earth. As we gather together look carefully around the house of God that you choose to go to today and find Jesus taking it all in.

Prayer: Almighty God and father of us all, thank you for giving us multiple places to worship you, in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
