I have seen the Lord!

John 20: 1-18 v16 ‘Mary” Jesus said. She turned and cried out, “Rabboni” (Which is Hebrew for “Teacher”)

Early, whilst it was still dark Mary went to the tomb. The stone was rolled away. She ran back to Simon Peter and the other disciple. His body is gone and I don’t know where it is ! The two disciples ran to the tomb, the other disciple getting there first. He stopped and looked in. Simon Peter arrived and went in, then the other disciple followed. They noticed the linen cloth folded up and lying apart. The disciple who had reached the tomb first saw and believed – Jesus was raised from the dead! Then they went home.

Mary stood outside the tomb and wept. She looked in again and saw two angels who comforted Her. She turned to leave and saw the gardener standing there. If you have taken Him away, please tell me where you have put him. Mary” Jesus said. She turned and cried out, “Rabboni” (Which is Hebrew for “Teacher”) Jesus said, “Go find my brothers and tell them, “I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” Mary found the disciples and said, “I have seen the Lord!” then gave them the message.

I was reading a book called Impact by Dr Arleen Westerhof this week and she complained that twice people literally poked her in the shoulder to get her attention about an important message from God. Mary had to hear His voice to understand what she was seeing. The joy of that first Easter Sunday of encountering Jesus, your Father, your God, is as true today as it was then. Have you seen the Lord this week?

“Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed.” John 20 v 8

Prayer: Almighty God and loving Father, we thank you for sending your Son Jesus so that we could understand your goodness and glory. Open our hearts to your presence this week. Amen.
