John 20: 19 – 31v “But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you will have life by the power of His name.”

It was Sunday, the disciples were scared and had all the doors in the house locked. Suddenly Jesus was standing there with them. “Peace be with you!” He showed them his hands where the nails had been and his side that was open from the wound the soldier gave Him. The disciples were filled with joy. As the Father sent me, so I send you to forgive sins and receive the Holy Spirit.

Thomas missed it. They told him they had seen the Lord, but he couldn’t get his head around it. I must see Him for myself he said sadly. Eight days later Jesus was standing among them even though the doors were locked, and Thomas was there. Jesus said “don’t be faithless any longer. Believe. “My Lord and my God “, Thomas exclaimed.

The disciples saw many other miracles. But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you will have life by the power of His name.”

“The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the one’s recorded in this book.” John 20 v 30

Only yesterday I was telling the story of learning how to drive in the UK where there were roundabouts and fast-moving traffic. Some forty years later my children and husband still comment on my driving speed on some occasions. We are made up of the stories of our lives, each one unique and different due to our experiences.  And the Bible is no different. But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you will have life by the power of His name.”

May the peace and joy of believing be with you today!

Prayer: Heavenly Father who gave us Jesus help us to walk with Him in the daily stories of our lives. Amen.
