Everlasting Joy

Psalm 22; 25-31 v 26 “The poor will eat and be satisfied. All who seek the Lord will praise Him. Their hearts will rejoice with everlasting joy.”

I will praise you in the great assembly. The poor will eat and be satisfied. All who seek the Lord will praise Him. Their hearts will rejoice with everlasting joy. The whole earth, all the families of the nations will bow down before Him. Our children will serve Him, future generations will hear about the wonders of the Lord, and those not yet born will hear.

I want to be a good person, a good mum, a good sister, a good sister-in-law, a good grandma, a good friend, a good wife, a good Christian, and that is not an exhaustive list. It only considers those I encounter in my week. What about world peace, those with food insecurity, Indigenous relations?  But I am exhausted reading it. Overwhelmed with the tasks at hand.

In this psalm I see that I must worship God and show others my faith in the church I attend. And then God will see that all the other things will happen. I might be a part of a bigger picture, but I must continue to praise Him in this world when I can, find joy in His presence and the rest will unfold. He promises here that our children and even those unborn will hear!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the simple act of worship which gives us joy. For the promise that you will take care of the world. That future generations will hear! Amen.
