1 John 4: 7-21v 18-19 “Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. We love each other because he loved us first.”
Let us continue to love on another, for love comes from God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. God showed His love for us by sending His only Son into the world. This is real love- not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. If we love each other God lives in us. And God has given us His spirit as proof that we live in Him and He in us. And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. Such love has no fear because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. We love each other because he loved us first. And He has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers. (Greek; The one who loves God must also love his brother.)
As a family we have been celebrating a lot of birthdays and they have been truly wonderful celebrations. The days between however have been fearful, will everyone come? Sad where has all the time gone? Angry, I need help to get all the chores done. I forget in the times between that God loves me. He loved me first. A love greater than anything else which enables us to love all others.
Prayer: Heavenly Father who reaches out to us every day with your love, help us to overcome the fears, sadness and anger that we generate when we forget this. Open our hearts to your everlasting love, for all, in all. Amen.
