Acts 1: 15-17, 21-26 v 21 : For now we must choose a replacement for Judas from among the men who were with us the entire time we were travelling with the Lord Jesus.”
About 120 believers had gathered and although King David had predicted the betrayal of Judas, a replacement was to be chosen. The criteria was set, from among the men who were with us the entire time we were travelling with the Lord Jesus. Two names were put forward. Then they prayed, caste lots and Matthias was chosen.
We all have certain talents and gifts and to be an apostle at the time of Jesus was to have travelled with Jesus throughout His ministry, from His baptism to His resurrection. Through prayer and then by voting a new apostle was named. In the book “Impact” by Dr. Arleen Westerhof a modern-day prophet she talks of the roles of the Minister and the roles of those sent to work outside the Church, that is those who are called to pray and those who are called to do as being separate and she sees “a new breed- the “Priestly King”. They will be those called to both pray and to do. Jesus is our example. ““Apostles and prophets will not just plant and build churches, but they will have the structures for managing and rebuilding ruined cities and nations.”

It’s time to look for a replacement, for apostles, who will pray and do!
Prayer: Heavenly Father who knows what the world needs to be a better place lead us to replace apostles in positions of pray and of doing. Amen.
