Chosen by God

1 Samuel 15:34-16:13 v “There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied, “But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep and the goats.”

Samuel mourned for Saul and the Lord was sorry he ever made Saul King of Israel. Enough said the Lord to Samuel, it is time that I anoint a new King. Go to Jerusalem, it will be one of Jesse’s sons. Samuel travelled to Jerusalem and despite the trepidation of the elders of the town in a peaceful process met Jesse and his sons, but God did not approve of them despite their good looks or for any other reason. Samuell asked if there were any more sons? There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied, “But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep and the goats.” And the Lord said,” this is the one, anoint him. “

Samuel a devout follower of God still had a hard time following Gods plan. Whether chosen by God to be a bearer of messages or to be a leader or to be a teacher there is often a reluctance to step up to the plate. There is still the option for us to choose the wrong path, and sometimes we just need to be told enough, let’s work together and get on with the job! Being chosen by God as we all are sometimes is a challenge but God is good, let’s get on with it!

” And the spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David from that moment on.” 1 Samuel 16 v 11b
