Jesus

Mark 6 1-13 v 4 “ The Jesus told them,” A prophet is honored everywhere except in His hometown and among His own family and relatives.”

Jesus went back home and continued to teach in the synagogue as he had done in other towns and cities. People were amazed at his wisdom and power to perform miracles. Then they scoffed at Him “He’s just a carpenter, I know His mother and father and brothers and sisters who live here too. They were deeply offended and refused to believe in Him. Then undeterred by this Jesus continued teaching and sent out the disciples as well, two by two,, to continue to teach others and they caste out many demons and healed many sick people anointing them with olive oil.

“Then Jesus went from village to village teaching the people.” Mark 6 v 6b

He didn’t experience road rage, or the addiction to social media, video games or fentanyl. He didn’t fly in an aeroplane or a spaceship, but He did experience all the other things that cause us grief. His family did not understand Him, and His hometown rejected Him. His friends denied knowing Him, and the religious leaders hated Him. But when ministering on this earth in bodily form or ministering to us today, He continues to support and send us out in the world to save others and to heal the sick. Jesus modelled humility, kindness and at the same time strength and power over all, including sickness, evil spirits and the wind and the waves. There is no other like Him. So say sorry to God for the things you have done that He would not like and turn to God.

Prayer: Heavenly Father give us the courage to stand up for you in all we do. To be persistent in prayer, to help the weak and the marginalized, the sick and trust that you will provide all that we need. Amen.
