2 Corinthians 8: 7-15 v 12 “Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have not what you don’t have.”
Since you excel in so many ways- in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, your love for us- I want you to excel in the at of giving. You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. He became poor so that by His poverty He could make you rich. My advice, finish what you started. Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have not what you don’t have. Right now, you have plenty and can help those who are in need. The scriptures say, “Those who gathered a lot had nothing left over, and those who gathered a little had enough.”

Giving in all things is different for everyone as we all have different gifts and talents including our money. We also have different times in our lives when we have more than at others. In our lifetime the numbers required to purchase things change. My husband and I brought our first house for $70,000, now a starter home is over $700,000. When we had young children the cost of going out for the evening was multiplied by the amount needed to pay a babysitter. Today there are different worries living off a fixed income but not having the worries of a mortgage. So wherever you are in life today remember to give what you can happily, and according to what you have!
Prayer: Heavenly Father who makes sure we all have enough, help us to decide how much to give to others with a happy heart knowing that you will provide for all that we need. Amen.
