Mark 6: 30-34, 53-56 v 55 “and they ran throughout the whole area, carrying sick people on mats to wherever He was.”
The apostles returned from their ministry tour and told Him all they had done and taught. There were so many people coming and going that Jesus and His apostles didn’t even have time to eat. So, they left by boat. Many people saw and followed Him. Jesus saw the crowd, had compassion and began teaching them. They left again by boat. Many people saw them, and they ran throughout the whole area, carrying sick people on mats to wherever He was and all who touched Him were healed.
We have them today, mega celebrities who can’t go anywhere without being recognized and drawing a crowd. But do they have compassion for the people who follow them? Do they sit down with them and teach them how to live a good life? We have all heard stories and maybe have our own experiences of the celebrity who when met face to face is rude and dismissing of the crowd. Jesus realized that for Him and the disciples they needed to get away and certainly celebrities need their privacy too but at all times Jesus was compassionate to those who followed Him. When they came from miles around, He healed them all.
Jesus wasn’t a celebrity easily forgotten when He was no longer seen in this world. Two thousand years later we are still learning from Him and being healed by Him. He amplifies our good parts and tries to chip away at our not so good for the benefit of those around us. He heals the sick and answers our prayers today.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank thee for sending your Son, Jesus to heal us. Amen.
