1 Kings 22-30. 41-43 v 30b “So the King of Israel disguised himself, and they went into battle.”
The King of Israel said to Jehosophat, “As we go into battle, I will disguise myself so no one will recognize me, but you wear your royal robes. So, the King of Israel disguised himself, and they went into battle. Jehosaphat at thirty-five years old began to rule as King. He did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight. He did not remove all the pagan shrines.
This passage starts with deception. A King disguising himself as a regular soldier. And then we see Jehosaphat as a King who did all right but didn’t do everything he could for God’s Kingdom. I have been listening to a radio station this week advertising a comedian who ask people to show their real selves to the world, then he quickly realizes that that would not be a good thing and tries to take the statement back! Everyone laughs. Do you disguise your true self to others?

And following up on that do you do all you can for the Lord? Or do you do the easy things and not the harder things He asks you to do? You do alright but not great! Showing others our true selves is hard, and following God makes us uncomfortable and stretches our entire being. Can you decide today to take off your disguise and follow God wherever He leads?
Prayer: Almighty God who holds us all in the palm of His hand help us to remove our disguise and stand up for you today. Amen.
