Family Fun Friday at the Fair!

This weekend the fall fairs in Ontario are underway. With amusement rides, competitions for the best pie, the best vegetables, the best cow and horses as well as a whole lot more. Either have a competition as a family or attend a local Fall Fair. Decide on a prize and here are some examples in the baking category.

MUFFINS & LOAVES:

Prizes: 1st: $6, 2nd: $4, 3rd: $2

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Muffins – 3 (no nuts, no paper cups)
Bran Muffins, with raisins – 3 (no nuts, no paper cups)
Pumpkin Spice Muffins, 3 (no paper cups)
Cinnamon Swirl Loaf, half loaf of an approx. 4″x8″x3″ pan
Banana Chocolate Chip Loaf, half loaf of an approx. 4″x8″x3″ pan
Carrot Cake Loaf, half loaf of an approx. 4″x8″x3″ pan

COOKIES:

Double Chocolate Chip Cookies – 3 (Chocolate dough, chocolate chips)
Cake Mix Cookies – 3 – made from any boxed cake mix
Shortbread Cookies – 3
S’mores Cookies – 3
No-bake Chocolate Haystack cookies – 3

Petunias – 3 sprays single variety
Marigolds under 7.6 cm (3″) in diameter – 5 blooms

A single bloom of any kind, floating in a bowlNo larger than 25.4cm (10″)Tips: There should be 1″ of area around the bloom 2.5 cm (1″) and bloom should not have a side bud.
