Psalm 124 v2 “What if the Lord had been on our side when people attacked us?”
What if the Lord had not been on our side? They would have swallowed us alive in their burning anger. Yes, the raging waters of their fury would have overwhelmed our very lives. Praise the Lord, we escaped like a bird from a hunter’s trap. Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

According to Carl Sagan, in his 1997 book, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, there are naive questions, tedious questions, ill-phrased questions, questions put after inadequate self-criticism. But every question is a cry to understand the world. There is no such thing as a dumb question.” https://usaidlearninglab.org/community/blog/there-no-such-thing-dumb-question from the Collaborative Learning Association.
I like that concept as a lifelong learner myself, and find the question here repeated twice what if the Lord had not been on our side integral to our life as Christians. I have found in the last four years that living outside the borders of a traditional church has strengthened my faith, increased my love for the poor, and my engagement with the community in which I live and am finding more joy in everyday. I know the Lord is on my side because of all the good things that have happened in my life just as the psalmist knew because they were rescued by a God who is greater than us, after all He made heaven and earth.
So go ahead ask your questions of God and wait patiently for His reply. Out help is from the Lord!
Prayer: Heavenly Father who made all things help us to be honest as we ask questions to learn more to help us help the world for good. Amen.
