Mark 7: 24-37 v “She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even the dogs under the table are allowed to eat from the scraps from the children’s plates.”
As he traveled North to the region of Tyre, He didn’t want anyone to know which house He was staying in, but He couldn’t keep it a secret. Right away a women came and fell at His feet. She was a Gentile (not of Jewish decent). Jesus said “First I should feed my own Family, the Jews. She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even the dogs under the table are allowed to eat from the scraps from the children’s plates. Jesus replied, good answer and her daughter was healed. The people then brought a deaf man with a speech impediment to Him and begged Him to heal Him. Jesus led him away from the crowd so that they could be alone. He healed the man. Jesus told them not to tell anyone, but the more He told them not to, the more they spread the news.
We see Jesus, fully man in that He wanted to be alone, to have some quiet time, to not be made a fuss of. Also, we see Him as a wise and loving God who healed everyone who helped expand His vision of a world where he valued even those who survived on scraps and understood the quiet needed, when a deaf man was given back his hearing and his speech. And the crowd said, “everything He does is wonderful!” Good answer!
Prayer: Holy God who through Jesus showed us the human and the Godly talents needed for a good life guide us today to find the good answer for those around us. Amen.
