Jealousy and selfishness

 James 3: 13- 4:3, 7-8a v15 a;” For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom”

If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good woks with the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying. For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom, but disorder and evil of every kind.  But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, peace loving, gentle, full of mercy, shows no favoritism, is always sincere and will plant seeds of peace and harvest righteousness. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. You don’t ask God for it because your motives are wrong- you want only what will give you pleasure. So, humble yourself before God. Come close to God and God will come close to you.

How often do our worldly wants and needs come first in our hearts?  The humility God says comes from wisdom is not apparent in our lives as me, myself, and I become more important in all we do.  The words in the bible are clear and need no translation. Take time out now to humble yourself before God. Come close to God and God will come close to you.
