Our health

Job 1:1; 2: 1-10v 5 “Reach out and take away his health, and he will surely curse you to your face.”

Job, lived in the Land of Uz. He was blameless a man of complete integrity. He feared God and stayed away from evil. The members of the heavenly court came together before the Lord, Satan came with them. Satan said he had been patrolling the earth, watching everything that was going on. The Lord pointed out Job, who was blameless. And he maintained his integrity even though you urged me to harm him without cause. Satan replied to the Lord, “Reach out and take away his health, and he will surely curse you to your face.” So, Satan covered Job with boils, his wife told him to curse God and die, but Job replied” Should we accept only good things from God and never anything bad?” So, in all this, Job said nothing wrong.

But Job replied” You talk like a foolish woman.” Job 2 v 10a

We all grow old and with that our bodies start to do crazy things, like increase our blood pressure, crave different foods, usually the unhealthy sort, and our weight increases as our exercise level decreases. Why does God let this happen to us? Satan felt strongly that if our health was in trouble we would curse God. However, the opposite is true. When our health is in trouble even those on the edge of belief ask us to pray for them. Strong believers are sought out to pray for others in a health crisis. A God that allows us to make choices for ourselves, allows us to go down a path where bad things happen. He calls good young people back home to him, leaving us grieving and alone. But he also sent his Son, to be with us. He gives us courage when we are down and guidance to follow through with choices that bring us back to Him in all we do, including our health. God is good, make Him the center of all you do. Learn from the bad things that come your way and continue to center your life on God, and the good times will return, as Job found out.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for challenging us with our health, to allow us to center on you in all we do, with Jesus by our side. Amen.
