Darkness

Job 23: 1-9, 16-17. V 6 “Would He use His great power to argue with me? No, he would give me a fair hearing.”

My complaint today is still a bitter one. If only I knew where to find God, I would go to His court. I would lay out my case and listen to His reply. Would He use His great power to argue with me? No, he would give me a fait hearing. I go east, west, north, south but He is concealed. God has made me sick at heart, darkness is all around me.

“Darkness is all around me, thick, impenetrable darkness is everywhere.”
Job 23 v 17

On this Thanksgiving weekend we are aware that the days are shorter, and more darkness is around us. On a day that is usually bright with thankfulness why this reading about the dark? Being lost from God? Not able to find Him? Many people we see in our gatherings are having difficulty finding God. Find common ground in your conversations this weekend, and as we celebrate the wonder of the harvest, plant a seed of light in the darkness. Make it small, a quick snack, that someone can enjoy and start looking for more!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the beauty of the earth and its bounty that we enjoy with family and friends this weekend. Help us to plant a seed, and bring the light of Jesus into the darkness we encounter. Amen.
