The Bigger Picture

Ruth 3: 1-5: 4: 13-17 v 4 “Be sure to notice where he lies down; then go uncover his feet and lie down there. He will tell you what to do.”

Naomi said to Ruth,” It is time that I found a permanent home for you.” Now do as I tell you. – take a bath and put on perfume and dress in your nicest clothes. Boaz will be on the threshing floor. Be sure to notice where he lies down; then go uncover his feet and lie down there. He will tell you what to do. Boaz took Ruth into his home, and she became his wife. She became pregnant and she gave birth to a son. Naomi took the son and cuddle him to her breast. He became the father of Jesse, and the grandfather of David.

Ruth must have been scared to go to the threshing floor to Boaz. But she followed the wise counsel of Naomi. Both women benefitted from that action and the world benefitted as she produced a son who had a son who became King David.

Our life journeys may not be as significant as this for the world, that is for God to decide, but it is important that our actions are of benefit to others. We must look at the big picture in all we do. Sometimes we must have a plan and do hard things to achieve good for those we love.

“Then the women of the town said to Naomi, ” Praise the Lord, who has now provided a redeemer for your family.” Ruth 4 v 14a

Grounded in prayer and love, good things will come of hard decisions if we have the bigger picture of what God wants for us and the world in our hearts.

Prayer: Heavenly Father who holds the world in His hands guide us via the Holy Spirit to love those around us and plan for your bigger picture for them and the world. Amen.
