1 Samuel 1 4-20 v 16 “Don’t think that I am a wicked woman! For I have been praying out of great anguish and sorrow.”
Elkanah had two wives, Peninnah who had many children and Hannah who had none. Peninnah made Hannahs life miserable by taunting her for having no children. Hannah was in deep anguish, crying bitterly as she prayed to the Lord. Hannah vowed if she had a son that she would give it back to God. Eli the priest thought Hannah had been drinking but Hmmah replied “Don’t think that I am a wicked woman! For I have been praying out of great anguish and sorrow.” Eli said “Go in peace! May your request be granted.” And in due time Hannah gave birth to a son and named him Samuel.

God has a plan and sometimes we have things deep in our hearts that we would like to achieve, and it is hard when they are out of our control. We trust God however to do what is best for us and within our abilities and within His plan. Most times we are required to work hard, along with god’s intervention but sometimes as in Hannahs case you just have to wait and experience deep anguish. It caused Hannah, however, to pour out her heart to the Lord. If something deep and big is troubling, you remember to pour out your heart to the Lord. He promises to answer.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for listening to our deepest needs and responding to them. In Jesus’s name we pray. Amen.
